Keep the local registry reference
Ask how your marriage record will be transmitted for registration and what reference is available for later enquiries. Keep a copy of the ceremony details. If you return to Australia while your spouse remains in the Philippines, agree who will contact the registry and when.
Request the right certificate
Ask when the local registration can be confirmed and when the PSA-issued record is available. Do not treat a supplier’s estimated delivery date as a registry guarantee. Save any official receipt and verify the identity details on a certificate before sending it abroad.
Explain the intended use in Australia
Australia does not register overseas marriages in its state registers. A change to a passport, an employment record or an immigration application can call for different evidence. Ask the agency responsible for your actual request whether it needs the original, a certified copy, a translation or authentication. Keep that later administrative task distinct from your Philippine marriage booking.
