Confirm what the marrying authority requires
Tell the local registrar your citizenship, residence, marital history and your intended partner’s municipality. The Australian Embassy Manila directs applicants to check Philippine requirements before booking a CNI appointment. Other evidence from Australia may be requested in addition to the CNI.
Separate embassy and registrar documents
Make an embassy list for the CNI and a second list for the local marriage license. The consular application can require identity evidence for both people and documents relevant to previous marriages. The Philippine office has its own rules on forms, copies, attendance and civil-status records.
Choose the issuing location deliberately
Do not assume a CNI obtained in Australia will be accepted by the local registrar. The Australian embassy notes that acceptance can vary. Confirm whether the receiving office expects an embassy-issued Philippine document before making a booking or ordering records.
Before your next appointment
- Local registrar’s CNI acceptance instructions
- Australian passport and partner identity evidence
- Any additional documents requested for your circumstances
