Begin with an acceptance question
Tell the Philippine registrar you hold Canadian citizenship and intend to marry your Filipina partner. Ask specifically whether it accepts Canada’s Statement in Lieu of Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage Abroad. The Canadian mission advises checking acceptance first. If the answer is unclear, resolve that question before arranging a consular request.
Build a folder for each partner
For the Canadian applicant, list identification, civil-status evidence, the statement request and any name-change records. For the Filipino partner, ask the registrar which PSA and identification records apply. Keep copies for reference separate from the certified or original versions intended for submission.
Plan delivery around the wedding trip
Confirm how documents will reach you, which items must remain available for travel and where the consular response can be returned. A completed courier delivery only confirms receipt of a package. It does not mean the local registrar has accepted the subsequent marriage application.
