British CNI, Affirmation or Affidavit: Choose Your Route

Check whether your circumstances require a UK certificate of no impediment or a British consular document in Manila. The names are not interchangeable.

For applicants habitually resident in the UK

Start by asking the appropriate register office about the CNI process and the date you can obtain the document. Philippine guidance describes an apostilled UK register-office CNI for this route. Confirm how the registrar wants to see the apostille and original before scheduling your trip around a provisional date.

For the Manila consular route

Use current GOV.UK instructions for the Philippines. The published procedure directs applicants to apply online first. When directed, select the appropriate affirmation or affidavit form, complete it by hand and leave the signature until the appointment. Use the embassy’s current instructions for supporting evidence and appointment arrangements.

Present the correct document to the registrar

A consular declaration or CNI is evidence for the licensing stage. Confirm what else is required from you and your partner, including locally requested records. If your residence changed recently, describe the facts to the relevant offices rather than assuming a short visit changes the route.

Before your next appointment

  • Registrar confirms the residence-based route
  • Correct register office or consular process
  • Signature and apostille instructions for that route
