British Marriage Procedure

Philippine Marriage Documents for British Nationals

For a British applicant, habitual residence can change the legal-capacity document route. Start with where you normally live, not only the passport you hold.

Identify the route for your residence

Philippine guidance for British nationals distinguishes people habitually resident in the UK from those resident in the Philippines or another country outside the UK. The UK-resident route describes an apostilled certificate of no impediment from a UK register office. The route for residence outside the UK describes a consular affidavit at the British Embassy Manila. Confirm the applicable route with your registrar.

Prepare a record inventory

List your British passport, birth information, current marital status, any previous marriage and your evidence of residence. Your Filipina partner should obtain the separate list of Philippine records the registrar requires. Ask whether documents issued elsewhere need translation or authentication before ordering services.

Make the right appointment

A UK register-office process and a Manila consular appointment are different bookings. Explain your residence and circumstances before selecting one. Once the registrar confirms the accepted instrument, plan appointments and delivery around the document you actually need.

Before your next appointment

  • Habitual residence and citizenship
  • Accepted UK CNI or Manila consular route
  • Philippine partner’s locally confirmed checklist
